M Health Fariview Procedure or Hospital Admission:
Before you come in you must get tested for COVID-19, even if you’ve been vaccinated.
If you’re going home on the same day as your procedure (surgery):
1 to 2 days before your procedure, take an at-home, rapid antigen test. You can buy these at many pharmacy stores. Or you can order free, at-home tests at covid.gov/tests. If you can’t find an at-home, rapid antigen test, please schedule a PCR test with M Health Fairview by calling 1-855-324-7843, or visiting mhealthfairview.org/resources/covid19. *We can’t accept tests that are more than 4 days old.*
If your test is NEGATIVE, please take a photo of the test. Show the photo to the nurse when you come in for your procedure.
If your test is POSITIVE, please tell your surgeon’s office right away. A positive test means that you have COVID-19. We’ll probably have to postpone your admission, surgery or procedure. Your care team will discuss this with you. After that, we’ll let you know what to do and when you can re-schedule.
If you’re staying overnight in the hospital:
4 days before your procedure, please get a PCR test from a lab. To schedule a PCR test with M Health Fairview, call 1-855-FAIRVIEW. Or, visit mhealthfairview.org/resources/covid19.
If your test is NEGATIVE, please ask the testing location to fax your results to us at 612-884-3674.

After your test and before your procedure, please follow these safety guidelines:
• Limit trips outside your home.

• Always wear a face covering outside your home.
• Use social distancing. Stay 6 feet away from others whenever you can.
• Wash your hands often.
Removal of the entire uterus to treat multiple different menstrual problems. This can be performed vaginally, laparoscopically, abdominally or with a robotic assistance.
Laparoscopic tubal ligation
Using 2 or 3 tiny incisions in your belly, either a part of your fallopian tube (or sometimes the whole fallopian tube) is removed.
Essure tubal occlusion
Tiny metal coils are inserted into your fallopian tubes using a device placed through your vagina and cervix. There is no incision. A follow up test (tubal dye study) is needed after 3 months to make sure your tubes are blocked.
Transobturator Sling – A minimally invasive outpatient surgery using mesh tape under the urethra, like a hammock, to keep it in the normal position. This helps prevent involuntary release of urine.
