You’ve waited nine months, and your baby still won’t come out? We’ve got some tricks up our sleeve! If you’re looking for ways to naturally induce labor, keep reading. According to What to Expect, Baby Center and Cleveland Clinic, these natural tricks could offer nature a little nudge to get moving.

Walking

A nice leisurely stroll can be beneficial when you’re trying to relax and as an added bonus, it could help encourage your baby to move down into your pelvis. Thanks to gravity and the swaying of your hips, this encouragement could be what your baby needs to move closer to making an appearance.

And if it doesn’t work, at least you get a relaxing walk in!

Nipple Stimulation

This is a natural way to increase oxytocin levels to kick childbirth into gear by sending signals to your body to start contractions and labor. This hormone’s synthetic dopplergänger, Pitocin, is often used by doctors to induce labor.

Sexual Intercourse

While there is evidence to show some women having success with sex inducing labor, there is also evidence of sex having no impact on labor. But if you and your partner are willing, why not give it a go and have another special moment before you welcome a new member of the family? Sperm contains prostaglandins, hormones that can help thin and dilate the cervix, ripening it for delivery. Also an orgasm may stimulate contractions!

Dancing

Yes you read that right, getting your groove on could actually be your answer. Similar to walking, gravity is working in your favor to encourage your baby to move lower in your pelvis. Dancing can also open your pelvis and speed up dilation by putting pressure on your cervix.

Busting a move is also a great way to take your mind off of the pain and hopefully work some more fun into your delivery day – if that’s even possible!

Babies have their own timelines, and as much as we wish we could, they will come when it’s their time. That being said, it doesn’t hurt to give them some encouragement and try to speed up the process. Always check with your doctor to make sure it is safe for you to try any of these tricks. Before you know it, you’ll be giving your baby a squeeze and starting the journey of motherhood!
