ACOG Update: COVID-19 Vaccination Recommended During Pregnancy
The safety of patients and their babies continue to be our top priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the extensive research of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM)

The safety of patients and their babies continue to be our top priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the extensive research of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM), we at Southdale ObGyn are supporting their recommendation that all pregnant individuals be vaccinated against COVID-19. We see the love our patients have for their growing families, and we are here to support you in taking this step to further protect yourselves and your families.

ACOG and SMFM’s recommendation in support of vaccination during pregnancy reflect evidence demonstrating the safe use of the COVID-19 vaccines during pregnancy from tens of thousands of reporting individuals over the last several months, as well as the current low vaccination rates and concerning increase in cases.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and desired fertility are not exemptions from vaccination requirements. An exemption letter signifies a person has a condition for which the vaccine poses more risk than benefit. We are unable to provide medical letters of exemption for COVID-19 vaccination unless a true medical contraindication exists.
