This ultrasound is routinely done on all OB patients for evaluation of fetal anatomy and measurements, amniotic fluid volume, placental location and cervical length. This is a lengthy and detailed examination. We request that children under the age of 10 not be present at this appointment. Patients will be given pictures of their baby at the end of this exam on a complimentary CD. This may include a combination of 2, 3, and 4-D images taken throughout the study.
Patients with a complex history or who are 35 years or greater at the time of delivery are referred to Maternal Fetal Medicine for this assessment. It is referred to as a “Level II” ultrasound, and will be discussed by your provider.
